IT Project Manager - Salesforce Development

Summary

The IT Project Manager for Salesforce Development will be responsible for managing and overseeing Salesforce-related projects within the organization.

This role requires leading cross-functional teams to deliver Salesforce solutions, from planning and design through implementation and maintenance.

The IT Project Manager will work closely with Salesforce developers, business stakeholders, and other IT teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the organization’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Execution
  • a. Lead end-to-end project management of Salesforce development projects, including scoping, requirements gathering, timeline estimation, and resource allocation.
  • b. Develop detailed project plans, ensuring clear timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • c. Monitor and track project progress, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • d. Coordinate project activities and keep all stakeholders informed on progress, risks, and changes.
  • a. Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and the Salesforce development team.
  • b. Work with business leaders and users to gather, understand, and document project requirements.
  • c. Facilitate communication between stakeholders, ensuring that project goals and objectives align with business needs.
  • d. Organize and lead regular project meetings to review status, risks, and ensure proper alignment between the teams.
  • a. Lead a cross-functional team consisting of Salesforce developers, business analysts, and other relevant IT professionals.
  • b. Foster a collaborative and productive environment by promoting effective communication and teamwork.
  • c. Ensure that the Salesforce development team follows best practices and adheres to coding standards.
  • d. Mentor and support the development team, helping resolve any challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • a. Define and manage project scope, ensuring that project requirements are met while preventing scope creep.
  • b. Proactively identify project risks, bottlenecks, and issues, and develop mitigation plans to keep projects on track.
  • c. Manage change requests, ensuring that any changes to the project scope are communicated and addressed in a controlled manner.
  • a. Oversee the development and execution of test plans to ensure that Salesforce solutions are thoroughly tested for performance, security, and functionality.
  • b. Ensure that the solution meets business requirements and Salesforce best practices before moving to production.
  • c. Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure that business users are properly trained and ready to adopt the new system.
  • a. Ensure that Salesforce solutions (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, etc.) are delivered in accordance with organizational needs and Salesforce best practices.
  • b. Collaborate with developers to deliver custom Salesforce applications, integrations, and process automations to meet the needs of the business.
  • c. Oversee the deployment of Salesforce releases, updates, and customizations, ensuring smooth transitions from development to production.
  • a. Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and delivering projects within financial constraints.
  • b. Allocate appropriate resources to ensure that project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • c. Monitor and report on budget performance and variances to ensure cost efficiency.
  • a. Analyze project outcomes and identify areas for continuous improvement in Salesforce development processes and methodologies.
  • b. Apply lessons learned to optimize future project delivery and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • a. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including timelines, project plans, issue logs, meeting notes, and testing results.
  • b. Provide regular status reports to stakeholders, including executive leadership, to communicate project health, risks, and achievements.

Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Platform Developer) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, with a focus on Salesforce development projects.
  • Proven experience managing Salesforce implementation, customization, and integration projects.
  • Strong experience in Agile project management methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Experience in managing technical teams, including Salesforce developers, business analysts, and system architects.
  • Strong understanding of the Salesforce platform, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and custom development (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce integration tools (REST, SOAP APIs, middleware platforms).
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Project, Asana, etc.).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to handle complex project challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in cloud-based project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, Wrike).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Lightning Experience and migration from Classic.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Knowledge of business process mapping and requirements gathering techniques.
